Colorado Residency Documentation
Helpful Websites for Residency Information
Though it is not necessary, it may be helpful to review the Residency website
for information about residency requirements. The website includes
information for minor applicants interested in demonstrating emancipation.
Certain populations of applicants may qualify for exceptions to the one-year domicile requirement or may be eligible for certain military benefits.
Applicants who may be able to demonstrate compliance with one of the
exception categories should select “Yes” to the residency question in
the application and should complete all residency prompts to the best
of their ability in addition to following the petition instructions posted on the Residency website.

^Length
of connection to the state of Colorado can demonstrate the intention to
make Colorado a long-term/permanent home. Even
though 12 months is the minimum connection necessary, it is very common
for the 12 month period to span two calendar years; thus, two years of
information is required.
