Course Work

The following chart shows Colorado State’s current high school course work requirements and the requirements effective in 2008 and 2010.

Currently, new freshmen at Colorado State University must have graduated from high school with satisfactory completion of 18 high school units, 15 of which must be academic. (A unit typically equals one year of course work.) By 2010, all 18 high school units must be academic.

Important Notes;

  • Completion of course work in core academic areas every year (grades 9-12) is favored.
  • Admissions preference is given to students who are in accelerated mathematics or who maintain enrollment in mathematics during the senior year.
  • Students seeking engineering must have an additional ½ unit of trigonometry/precalculus and one unit of chemistry or physics.
