Application Checklist and Deadlines

Below, you will find a quick overview of the Application Checklist and Deadlines. For details, refer to the How to Apply and Deadlines and Notification sections of our Future Freshmen site.

Completed Application Checklist

  • Application for Admission (online application preferred)
  • $50 nonrefundable application processing fee OR approved fee waiver
  • Personal statement (essay): 400-500 words recommended; minimum 250 words required
  • An official transcript from last high school attended
  • ACT or SAT results
  • One teacher or school-based counselor recommendation (Applicants may submit the Printable Recommendation Form OR a letter of recommendation OR both.)

Deadlines

The freshman priority application deadline for fall semester admission is February 1. After this date (but no later than July 1), completed applications* are considered on a space available basis.

Freshman applicants wishing to be considered for scholarship must submit a completed application* by February 1 and must be admitted and meet all eligibility criteria by March 1.

The completed application* deadline for the spring semester is November 1.

*A complete application includes the application for admission and all required documents.

Notification of Application Status

  • Applicants are expected to check their application status online for the most current information; instructions and the applicant's CSUID are sent once the application is processed.

  • Once an application is complete and is referred to the committee for review, applicants can expect to receive notification of application status within a few weeks.

  • Because we review each application fully and holistically, some applications take longer to review than others, and additional information may be requested before a decision can be rendered.

  • Email is a primary communication tool for Admissions. It is important that applicants keep a valid email address on file with the Office of Admissions at all times, that applicants check their email at least once a week during the admission process, and that the domain "colostate.edu" be added to the applicant's safe senders list.
