Tuition and Financial Assistance
Estimated Cost of Attendance
Admitted
students must be able to demonstrate sufficient financial support to
cover expenses for the first year of attendance and resources for
subsequent years. For detailed information about estimated costs of
attendance, see Colorado State University's Estimate of Expenses for International Students (PDF Format, 170KB).
Scholarships
International freshman students* may be eligible for Dean's, Honors, Presidential, or Provost's Awards.
Award amounts range from $5,000 to $9,000 and may be renewable for a
total of four years provided students meet renewal requirements.
International
students who have been educated in a US system with ACT or SAT scores
can qualify automatically based on published GPA and test score
criteria. International applicants educated in other systems are
evaluated by the scholarship selection committee. Selection criteria
include clear admission (strong English proficiency) and high
achievement in an academically rigorous college-preparatory curriculum.
Typically, applicants in the top five percent of the applicant pool are
considered for scholarship.
International transfer students* may be eligible for Phi Theta Kappa or Ram Transfer Awards
according to published criteria. Award amounts range from $1,000 to
$5,000 and are renewable for a total of two years provided students
meet renewal requirements.
To be considered for scholarships,
students must submit a complete Application for Admission (including
official transcripts, TOEFL/IELTS score(s), processing fee, personal
statement and recommendation) by the posted deadline. No additional
scholarship application is required for consideration.
The completed application deadline for freshman award consideration is February 1. The completed application deadline for transfer award consideration is May 1 (admitted by June 1).
*International applicants who qualify for Colorado residency can be considered for Colorado resident freshman scholarships or resident transfer scholarships.
Federal Financial Aid
Colorado
State University does not provide Federal financial aid for
undergraduate international students. Only students who are US citizens
or permanent residents are eligible for Federal financial aid. As
scholarship opportunities are limited, international students are
encouraged to explore scholarships, loans and sponsorship possibilities
within their home countries; in addition, you are encouraged to review
the financing resources listed on the Web Resources for Incoming International Students.
Work Opportunities
Students
with either the Student visa (F1) or scholar visa (J1) are allowed to
work on campus on a part-time basis (20 hours/week or less) while
school is in session and full-time (40 hours/week) during breaks, as
long as they maintain their F1/J1 status. There are a wide variety of
employment opportunities available on campus. Consult the Student
Employment office with Student Financial Services for details.
