How to Return

Unlike the formal admission decision we conducted on your first application for admission, the return process involves simple verification that our records are current and review of your eligibility to return according to our Requirements to Return.

Document Checklist

Undergraduate Intent to Return form

  • The Undergraduate Intent to Return form, accessed through the online application, allows us to update your personal and academic information in University records.
  • If you will be requesting classification as a Colorado resident, you must fully complete all residency prompts within the application, even though you may have been classified as a Colorado resident during your last CSU attendance.  Failure to complete all residency prompts may result in your classification as a non-resident.
  • Second Bachelor's Candidates/Postgraduate Applicants who completed a first degree at Colorado State University and who wish to return to complete a subsequent degree must submit a full application for admission and a $50 nonrefundable application processing fee. Refer to the Transfer/Second Bachelor's section for application instructions.

An official transcript from each college/university attended since leaving Colorado State, regardless of the amount or type of credit.

  • If you have been absent from CSU for more than one semester, transcripts for any completed work will be required to fully process your Intent to Return, regardless of your academic standing when you left the University.
  • Transcripts for course work in progress may or may not be required, depending upon your intended return date and your academic status at Colorado State University. You will be notified if you are required to submit transcripts for work in progress.
  • Transcripts of course work completed prior to your first enrollment at Colorado State may be necessary but will not delay the return process. The Registrar's Office will notify you after your return to CSU if prior transcripts are necessary for evaluation purposes.
  • Faxed transcripts are not accepted.

Additional Support Documents

  • Examples of support documents include a Statement of Intent (brief essay), recommendations, or a resume.
  • The Statement of Intent is especially helpful if you have been away for a significant period of time, if you have downward trends or weaknesses at other institutions to explain, if you are in a probationary or dismissed status, or if you are seeking an Academic Fresh Start.
