What you need to know about Virtual Ram Orientation

A student works at a laptop computer with pens spread on the table and a notebook spread on their lap.

You’ve submitted your application, you’ve declared #ColoStateBound from the rooftops, and your first day of classes is coming faster than you might realize. What’s the next step?

Ram Orientation is a key checkpoint on your Colorado State timeline. It’s when you work out your first class schedule, have an opportunity to get questions answered by an academic adviser, and maybe even meet some of your new best friends.

For all Rams starting at CSU in the Summer or Fall 2020 semesters, orientation will take place totally online. Here are some important things to know about this new experience:

#1. Orientation is still required

Attending Ram Orientation is essential to getting your journey at Colorado State University officially up and running. Even though you won’t be arriving on campus this summer for orientation, the information you’ll get and the steps you’ll take throughout the online experience will be just as important, and attendance will still be required in order to remove the orientation hold from your account. You can sign up for available dates now.

#2. You’ll still get to connect with real people

Virtual Ram Orientation will involve lots of engagement and interaction with real people, not just a computer screen. You’ll get to interact with a small group of your peers and connect with other future Rams, learn about engagement and involvement opportunities, take part in academic advising and register for your first semester of classes, and get all of your questions answered.

#3. We’re planning something for your family members and guests, too

Your parents’, family members’ and guests’ questions are important, and we want to answer those, too. There will be an online experience for these Ramily members that will help them learn more about Colorado State and how they can support you in your transition.

#4. Email is the best way to communicate

Since all staff are working remotely, email is the best way to get in touch with us for questions and concerns. You can reach orientation staff at orientation@colostate.edu. Please include your contact information and the best time to reach you between 8:00am and 5:00pm Mountain Time. If you prefer to use the phone, you can reach orientation staff at (970) 491-6011 and leave a voicemail with your name, phone number, and question. A team member will give you a call back as soon as possible, but be aware that the call will be coming from an unknown number.

#5. Orientation staff are still ironing out all the details

We are still working hard on exactly what Virtual Ram Orientation will look like for you and your family members and guests. We want to do our best to get everything just right and make sure you’re well-prepared for your new journey at Colorado State. As soon as we have more information to share with you, we will be in touch. Watch your email inboxes and the orientation website for updates.

We’re so happy that you’ve chosen CSU as your home, and we can’t wait to guide you through these next exciting steps of your academic journey.
