Ruben Nuñez is the Assistant Director of Visitor Services at Colorado State University.
He joined the Office of Admissions in 2016 after receiving his master’s in Student Affairs from San Diego State University. He brings nine years of higher education experience (combination of undergraduate, graduate, and professional experience) to his role and previously served as an admissions counselor before transitioning to his current role.
Ruben oversees visitor services, which is composed of two staff members and more than 50 undergraduate Admissions Ambassadors, who welcome about 25,000 prospective students and their guests to campus annually.
Ruben has a passion for assisting students of all backgrounds through their college search process. He knows from personal experience the challenges faced by those coming from under-represented backgrounds. As a first-generation college student and person of color, higher education and access is his passion.
He sees his role as that of a teacher and mentor to ensure the Admissions Ambassadors are prepared to be the best representatives for CSU. Understanding the college search process is challenging, and he knows helping students find the right fit is crucial to their success.
About the Ambassador Program
The Admissions Ambassadors program strives to be a positive representation of CSU to prospective students and guests. CSU recruits a diverse group of students from all backgrounds, experiences, programs, and identities.
Ruben’s most impactful experience was serving as an ambassador at his undergrad institution for more than three years. It was through this experience that he found a passion for working with Admissions Ambassadors. He knows just how important the program is not only to the University but the college search process for students and guests visiting campus.
