Are you thinking about college costs and financial aid but don’t know where to begin? We’ve got some advice that will help you get started on the right foot. Here are four steps you can take now to get your financial aid rolling.
#1. Create your FSA ID
If you plan to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you’ll need a Federal Student Aid ID first. Both you and your parent will need to create an FSA ID if you’re a dependent. You’ll then be ready to complete the FAFSA at any time. Check out our guide to getting started.
#2. Apply for financial aid
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each academic year goes live in December, and can be completed with last year’s tax statements. Completing your application as soon as possible will allow you to get the best financial aid award.
#3. Learn about scholarships
There are many scholarship opportunities available, both within and outside of CSU. Looking at opportunities early will give you more time to apply. Before you start your scholarship search, read through our advice regarding searches, scams, and tips.
#4. Use our net price calculator
Here at CSU, we offer a free net price calculator, which projects your cost of attendance over the course of your degree. It also allows you to compare CSU with other institutions.
The calculator will list the cost of attendance at CSU and universities across the state of Colorado. So, if financial fit is something you’re still considering, it will help you decide which school may be best for you.
