Mission and Principles
Our community defines us. Colorado State University is known for its welcoming atmosphere and supportive environment. We are “Ramily” for a reason.
There’s room for everyone here. That’s not because we all agree with each other or live life the same way. Instead, it’s because we value and respect each other’s differences and we know that we’re better equipped to tackle the challenges of tomorrow when we work together.
Principles of Community
Colorado State University’s Principles of Community help us express what our community stands for and guide our expectations as we build future generations of Rams.
These values always give us something more to strive for.
We create and nurture inclusive environments and welcome, value and affirm all members of our community, including their various identities, skills, ideas, talents and contributions.
We are accountable for our actions and will act ethically and honestly in all our interactions.
We honor the inherent dignity of all people within an environment where we are committed to freedom of expression, critical discourse, and the advancement of knowledge.
We are responsible, individually and collectively, to give of our time, talents, and resources to promote the well-being of each other and the development of our local, regional, and global communities.
We have the right to be treated and the responsibility to treat others with fairness and equity, the duty to challenge prejudice, and to uphold the laws, policies and procedures that promote justice in all respects.
Inspired by our land-grant heritage, Colorado State University is committed to excellence, setting the standard for public research universities in teaching, research, service and extension for the benefit of the citizens of Colorado, the United States and the world.
