Parents, plan your Colorado State visit like a pro

Admissions tour group walks alongside the sport fields

If you have college-bound kids, it’s likely you’ll be taking some college tours at some point. At Colorado State, we are proud to offer a wide array of tours, information sessions, and special events to make sure you get the full CSU Ram experience and get the info you and your student need to make their big decision when the time comes. Read on for some tips to ensure you have a successful visit.

#1. Register for your CSU visit before you make travel plans

While we offer several information sessions and tours per day, they fill up fast  especially on weekends and around holidays. Make sure you register for your session and reserve your spot before you buy plane tickets, reserve a hotel, or take time off work. Sometimes we can accommodate you if you’re here and our tours are booked, but it’s not guaranteed.

#2. Look for weather, roads, and potential travel hiccups

If we know one thing about Colorado, it’s that the weather is rarely predictable. Roads close many times throughout the year for weather-related safety. If you plan to visit during snowy season (generally anytime between October and March), try to plan enough cushion time to account for delays. Summer visitors should be aware of delays related to construction, too, both on the way here and on campus.

#3. Research Fort Collins food and can’t-miss sights

There’s a lot to see, a lot to explore, and a lot to enjoy once you have your Colorado State tour reserved and plans solidified. Fort Collins is at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and many visitors don’t miss an opportunity to take an extra day to jaunt up to the mountains, take in a mountain town, and explore.

If you want to keep your trip short, Fort Collins is a foodie’s dream town, offering a plethora of amazing local restaurants, cafes, bistros, and coffee shops. Old Town Fort Collins is a year-round delight, awash in twinkling lights, foliage, art, and culture.

#4. Let us know if you need accommodations for your visit

If you plan to visit CSU and take a tour, know that it will involve quite a bit of walking. However, we can accommodate you if you or someone in your family need assistance. When you register for your session, you’ll have a place to note any accommodation requests, and our events team will get in touch with you.
