RoomSync explained

Trio sitting together at student center

At CSU we believe in giving our students the power to shape their on-campus living experience. This includes the option to find and request roommates. To make the roommate search as flexible as possible, we offer an easy-to-use roommate selection tool called RoomSync.

What is RoomSync?

RoomSync is a roommate-finding app connected to your Google or Facebook account. It allows you to choose a roommate based on similar majors, interests, housing options, or lifestyle preferences.

Freshmen/first-year students who have completed their housing application and have received their hall assignment will receive an emailed invitation to RoomSync and can access the app from mid-March until the beginning of July.

How does it work?

A few days after you’ve been assigned to your hall or Residential Learning Community (RLC), you will receive a RoomSync invite via email. This email will contain a secure passcode you will use to login to RoomSync.

From there, you can get started. Accept your invite and join the matching network, Colorado State University. Fill in your profile with your lifestyle preferences, interests, and housing options. Then start browsing and searching for others based on lifestyle preferences, housing options, interests, or major. Chat with users who interest you and send or accept incoming requests from the users you’d like to live with. Keep in mind that roommate matches can only occur for residents assigned to the same residence hall and/or residential learning community as you.

Once you and your roommate have decided to live together, be sure that you both request one another via RoomSync or login to your respective RAMweb accounts and update your housing application to include your roommate’s name and CSU ID.

Do I have to use RoomSync?

RoomSync is recommended but not required. We encourage students to use whichever roommate-finding method works best for them. Some students prefer to have CSU match them with a roommate based on their answers to the lifestyle questionnaire on the housing application.

When can I use it?

RoomSync is available from mid-March until the beginning of July. You will receive the exact dates via an email containing your invite and passcode. This email will be sent in the days following your housing assignment notification.
