Data science is the study of big data. Located in the College of Natural Sciences, the data science major teaches students how to analyze various data sets to gain knowledge and translate that data into something that is easy to understand. Data scientists take data and communicate it to help leaders, companies, government agencies, and even small business owners make better and more-effective decisions for consumers. Here are three reasons that the data science major might be for you.
#1. You’ll learn about data science from every angle and get to choose a specialization.
Studying data science with experts in math, statistics, computer science, and economics allows you to investigate big data sets from many angles. You can then choose to focus your studies in one of those four areas and get a deeper look into how data and data science can be used there.
#2. You’ll complete a capstone project that will be a highlight for your resume.
