Do you love the idea of making someone’s vacation or life event an experience they’ll never forget? CSU’s Hospitality and Event Management major might be for you if you find yourself wanting to work in and/or run hotels and restaurants, tourism destinations, events, and more. Here are three reasons why you might want to look a bit deeper at hospitality and event management.
#1. You’ll get direct experience in our student-run restaurant, the Aspen Grille.
As a Hospitality and Event Management major, you’ll be be actively involved in our student-run restaurant, the Aspen Grille, located in the Lory Student Center here on campus. In your time here you’ll experience every part of the running and management of a busy, full-service restaurant, including working in the front and back of the house, serving customers, tending bar, and managing operations.
#2. You’ll get chances for internships and paid work in the field while you learn.
Exceptional field experiences and internship opportunities are available as a part of your learning experience in the major. Our hands-on cooking and food-science labs, the Gifford catering group, conference management, and field trips will show you the pace, the challenges, and the rewards of working in industries that range from major events to catering gigs to hotels and fine dining. Your internship possibilities can be catered to your goals, as well. You’ll get to choose from a range of businesses and locations to work in, including The Cooking Studio, Hilton, and Budweiser Events Center.
#3. You’ll have career opportunities in multiple fields.
Our courses prepare you for extensive career opportunities in national, international, and regional companies. You can take your degree to any place in the world where food and beverage, hotels, resorts, or catering and events happen. Want to live in a destination dream area like Hawaii? Hospitality Management degrees prepare you to join companies at leadership levels in places just like this. We’re happy to say that more than 90% of our graduates find careers in these industries either before or shortly after they graduate.
