A concentration allows you to specialize in a certain area within your major, offering a depth of information and hands-on experiences that you may not otherwise get. Many students in this major will concentrate in one area to work in a specific field after college, as well as find mentors and internships before they even graduate.
The computer science concentration allows you to dive more deeply into the programming behind big-data work.
The economics concentration provides you with the technical and theoretical foundations in data science while also allowing for a focus on the economy and data in relation to the economy.
Data science runs on math. The mathematics concentration offers additional upper-level coursework to give you deeper insights into the dynamic world of big data.
The neuroscience concentration provides you with the ability to synthesize anatomical, biochemical, physiological, and psychological information that is contained within large data sets to develop hypotheses of nervous system development, structure, function, and regulation.
The statistics concentration provides a strong foundation of applied and theoretical statistical knowledge to empower you to become a successful data wrangler.
Finding a job in data science today is as easy as pie. You can choose an industry and almost always find a job in working data programs, making data more accessible to business partners and employees, and even designing data sets in digestible ways for the public. You can expect to find work in entertainment, government, education, nonprofits, ad agencies, and so much more.
