Turn your passion into action! Learn how to apply your determination to enhance social justice, and empower others, and foster positive change. This major focuses on equity, anti-oppression, and enhancing human health and well-being. You will prepare to make an impact in fields such as child and family well-being, mental health, school social work, criminal justice, and public policy/advocacy. You’ll gain real-world experience in a local agency or community setting through practice-based learning.

A concentration allows you to specialize in a certain area within your major, offering a depth of information and hands-on experiences that you may not otherwise get. Many students in this major will concentrate in one area to work in a specific field after college, as well as find mentors and internships before they even graduate.
Support individuals experiencing addiction. Earn your degree in social work and meet the course requirements for becoming a Certified Addiction Technician (CAT) in the state of Colorado. You will apply your addictions counseling skills in a treatment setting for your practice-based learning placement in social work.
Develop an advanced understanding of the interconnectedness between theories and environment with courses in focus areas including animal-assisted interventions, educational systems, and the positive impact of nature on human health.
Focus on the international human experience by exploring theories, conducting research, and delving into immersive education abroad experiences to partner with communities worldwide.
Social work graduates are employed in a variety of settings including social service agencies, schools, hospitals, clinics, institutions, community centers, public health, criminal justice, residential facilities, and more. You will have the opportunity to work with people in a multitude of circumstances and settings, allowing you to explore career options. Practice-based learning placements are required and allow you to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom. Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for advanced standing in the Master of Social Work program.
