Join one of the most high-impact learning environments and discover how your passion for social justice and empowering others can align for a future of making positive change. This major focuses on social justice, equality, anti-oppression, and enhancing human health and well-being. You will prepare for a variety of work in fields such as child and family wellbeing, mental health, school social work, corrections, and public policy/advocacy. Then you’ll experience hands-on learning in a local agency program or community setting.

A concentration allows you to specialize in a certain area within your major, offering a depth of information and hands-on experiences that you may not otherwise get. Many students in this major will concentrate in one area to work in a specific field after college, as well as find mentors and internships before they even graduate.
Adding this concentration will get you a degree in social work, as well as the course requirements for becoming a Certified Addiction Technician (CAT) in the state of Colorado. You will be placed in an addictions treatment setting for the required field placement in social work.
Social Work graduates are employed in a variety of settings including social service agencies, schools, hospitals, clinics, institutions, community centers, public health, corrections, and group homes. You will have the opportunity to work with people of all ages and in a multitude of circumstances and settings, and allow you to explore career options. Internships are required, and allow you to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for advanced standing in graduate programs.
