Independent Student Visit Day
Learn more about how CSU supports students from independent backgrounds.
When: Friday, November 6, 2026, 9 AM to 2:30 PM
Who it's for: CSU Admissions is partnering with the Fostering Success Program to host an event for high school students and recent high school graduates (and their guests) from independent backgrounds who want to learn more about CSU.
Fostering Success Program supports students who are in foster care, an orphan, a dependent ward of the court, have a legal guardian or are under kinship care, are homeless or unaccompanied youth, or are emancipated from biological parents. Learn more about the CSU Fostering Success Program here.

Where it is: Independent Student Visit Day is held at CSU's main campus in Fort Collins at the Lory Student Center.
What it is: Independent Student Visit Day is an event that educates highly mobile prospective students from independent backgrounds as they begin the college search process. You'll learn about resources provided to you through the CSU Fostering Success Program and information about FosterEd and EmpowerEd.
We'll offer free lunch and host sessions that share experiences about creating a community, academic and financial support, and outline services provided by the CSU Fostering Success Program. We look forward to seeing you on campus soon!

Parking for your event is free, but you must provide your vehicle’s license plate when you register for your visit in order to obtain a digital permit.
Parking is available at the Moby Arena parking lot (#195). Plan to arrive 15-20 minutes before your event to allow for walking to the venue and completing the check-in process. For those using a GPS, the best address to use is 951 W. Plum Street, Fort Collins, CO 80521. Upon arriving, please park in an “A” parking space when you arrive.
- Our events are popular and fill quickly. We encourage you to sign up for your event before you book your travel arrangements.
- Dress appropriately as you will be outside touring campus during your visit.
- We’re here rain or shine! You’ll be notified via text if the weather does impact your visit. Keep up to date by checking CSU’s safety website.
We continuously try to make our campus a vibrant, welcoming space. Please check the following information before your visit.
- For the health of our university community, no smoking, vaping or tobacco products can be used on Colorado State University campuses. The city of Fort Collins is also smoke-free.
- With the exception of service animals and approved emotional support animals, animals are not allowed to be inside university buildings or tied up outside. All pets must be on a leash in outdoor areas. See the full animal policy here.

What if we’re running late?
While late check-ins are welcome, we encourage you to arrive early. Our goal is to make the check-in process as easy as possible, but lines and wait times can be unpredictable. Don’t worry, we won’t turn you away if you’re running a little late!
Can I bring my guests, caregiver or siblings?
Caregivers and supporters are welcome to join you for this event. If you’d like to bring your friends or siblings who are also current high school students, we ask that they register independently.
What if there is a weather emergency?
In the event CSU is closed due to weather, all registrants will receive a text notification of the event’s cancellation, and a notice will be posted at safety.colostate.edu. It is rare for CSU to close due to weather due to our well-equipped facilities department, but we want you to make the decision whether to attend based on your circumstances and comfort.
What should I wear?
We recommend you wear comfortable clothing that is appropriate for the weather. You may be a part of sessions that are both indoors and outdoors, especially if you choose to take the campus tour.

My caregiver or supporter registered me under a different name. How can I change my name on the registration?
