Military Appreciation at Canvas Stadium at CSU

Visit campus to learn how CSU supports military active, veteran, and dependent students.

When: 1-3 P.M. November 15, 2024

Who it's for: Active and veteran military members and/or their dependents who will be entering CSU as freshmen or transfer students

Where it is: This event will be held at CSU's main campus in Fort Collins at the Lory Student Center, ending with the football game at Canvas Stadium

What it is: During this event, you will learn more about CSU resources and support services for active and veteran military members and their dependents. You’ll watch a presentation about veteran education benefits before participating in a panel discussion. Military dependent students and families will hear from current, first-year students while active and veteran students will hear from student veterans and alumni.

Afterward, join us at the Adult Learner Veteran Services Tailgate for a meet and greet with current students, alumni, and staff before cheering on the Rams during a football game at Canvas Stadium. Registration for this event includes football and BBQ tailgate tickets for the student and one guest and reserved on-campus game day parking.

Parking for your event is free, and you will receive one parking permit once you arrive on campus. We recommend planning for additional time to travel and park, as CSU and Fort Collins will see an increase in traffic on game day.

Parking is available in Lot #330.

If you are traveling on I-25 to Fort Collins:

  • Take Exit 268, Prospect Road
  • Head west and continue on Prospect Road for about 5 miles
  • Turn right on US 287/South College Avenue for 0.3 miles
  • Turn left onto West Laurel Street for 0.1 miles
  • Turn left onto S Mason Street and then left onto Old Main Drive
  • The parking lot will be on your right

When you arrive at the entrance to Lot #330 off Old Main Drive, you’ll see Admissions staff ready to assist with parking. Inform staff that you’re attending Military-Connected Student Visit Day and they’ll provide a parking permit and additional parking instructions.

Coming from out of town?

For those traveling to Fort Collins by air, Denver International Airport is the closest major airport to Fort Collins. We are about 65 miles north of the airport, and there are several options for transportation following your flight.

Where do I check in?

You will check in on the 3rd floor of the Lory Student Center outside Longs Peak Room 302. Look for signs and staff members in green polos. Staff will be stationed in the Lory Student Center to answer your questions and to help you find your way.

Can I bring my caregivers or siblings?

Caregivers and siblings are welcome to join you for this event. If you’d like to bring friends or siblings who are also military-connected, we ask that they register separately.

What if there is a weather emergency?

In the event CSU is closed due to weather, all registrants will receive a text notification of the event’s cancellation, and a notice will be posted at safety.colostate.edu. It is rare for CSU to close due to weather due to our well-equipped facilities department, but we want you to make the decision whether to attend based on your circumstances and comfort.

What should I wear?

We recommend you wear comfortable clothing that is appropriate for the weather. You will be part of sessions that are both indoors and outdoors, especially during the tailgate and football game, or if you choose to attend the optional campus tour.
