How do Colorado Free App Days work?

If you’re a Colorado resident, you can apply to Colorado State University for free year-round (hello, $50!) as part of CSU’s Colorado Free App EVERY Day. At Colorado State, we’ve gone beyond Colorado Free Application Days, held state-wide for Colorado students every October. As a Colorado resident applying to CSU, you can waive your application fee every day, any month, whenever you are ready to apply.

All Colorado applicants — first-year freshmen applicants, transfer applicants, second bachelor’s applicants, and undocumented applicants — qualify for the Colorado Free App EVERY Day waiver.

The best part? It’s as simple as 1, 2. 3. So simple, in fact, that you may not even realize we’ve waived your application fee.

Step 1:

Fill out the application as directed. Completing your application online typically takes 30-45 minutes, not including the time you spend crafting your personal statement, aka, essay (freshmen only). Use our detailed application guides to help you through the process.

Application tip: You only need to submit your application and personal statement (freshmen only) to be eligible for the application fee waiver. Any other materials (like transcripts) can be submitted at a later date.

Step 2:

Freshmen applicants: On the Common App, choose “Colorado Free App EVERY Day (CO high school or address)” in the dropdown of the question: “Are you eligible for a CSU application fee waiver through one of the following affiliations?” Your fee then will be waived when you submit your application.

Transfer and Second Bachelor’s applicants: On the CSU Application, no special steps are needed! Your fee will be waived automatically when you submit your application during Colorado Free Application Days.

Step 3:

Sit back and relax! You’ve just completed another step on your journey to become a Ram – and saved yourself $50 in the process!
