CSU announces guaranteed admission program for Colorado students

Colorado State University is proud to announce a guaranteed admission program for the Fall 2027 incoming freshman (first-year) class.

This pilot program gives eligible Colorado high school seniors a guaranteed pathway to admission at Colorado State University if they meet certain academic requirements.

“Our goal is to reduce barriers and uncertainty about the college admissions process for Colorado students,” said Heather Daniels, executive director of admissions at CSU. “We also hope this program will increase access to educational opportunities for students in underserved communities across the state.”

In order to be eligible, students need to:

  • Graduate from a Colorado high school (public, private, charter, or homeschool with a family address in Colorado)
  • Apply for Summer or Fall 2027 freshman admission
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0* or higher with at least six semesters of work (e.g., 75% of our recommended high school course work and/or junior year complete).

In this program, admission is guaranteed as long as no additional review is needed for state-approved, non-academic conduct reasons. And, while admission to CSU is guaranteed for eligible students, direct entry to majors with more-competitive entrance requirements isn’t guaranteed.

Applications are reviewed through our standard comprehensive admissions review process in the presence of recurring/pervasive incomplete or failing grades or notable deficiencies in our recommended high school coursework.

We continue to welcome applications from students with a GPA below 3.0; you will be considered for admissions through CSU’s standard comprehensive admissions review process.

*In cases where a school publishes both a weighted and unweighted GPA, we use the highest GPA on the transcript. We will not generate a weighted GPA for students coming from schools that do not weight grades. GPAs reported on a scale other than 4.0 are converted or recalculated according to our standard practice. Students from schools that do not provide grades (e.g. standards-based grading, mastery transcript), are reviewed through our standard admission process, and we support admission for comparable achievement (e.g. steady accomplished/high accomplished achievement or demonstration of mastery with evidence of advanced course work).
