The Civil Engineering major prepares you to solve today’s most critical challenges, including water quality and access, infrastructure resiliency, and global sustainability. Civil engineering students desire to build a better society and shape daily life, from highways and structures to water systems and disaster prevention. You will learn to repair, redesign, and rebuild aging infrastructure around the world. The program culminates in a year-long senior capstone design project where you’ll complete hands-on experiences alongside our world-class faculty

Some Career Options

Civil engineers are employed in both the public and private sector, including local, state, and federal governmental agencies, consulting firms, and industrial companies such as construction, petroleum, mining, and aerospace firms. Civil engineers also have opportunities in specialized design, research, and education. Students get a head start on their career with broad internship opportunities across industries while completing their undergraduate degree.
