What are Green and Gold Scholarships for Residents?

Colorado State University automatically awards Green and Gold Scholarships for Residents to eligible freshmen/first-year students who are residents of Colorado. No scholarship application needed! These scholarships can be renewed for up to four years, meaning you could earn up to $1,500 per semester, or up to $12,000 over the course of four years.

2021-2022 Scholarship Amount

Admitted students who are eligible will receive up to $1,500 per semester, or up to $12,000 over the course of four years.


  • Submit a complete application for admission by February 1 for a fall semester start or November 1 for a spring semester start. If a student starts classes in summer, the scholarship can’t be used until fall semester.
  • Be an incoming freshmen/first-year student.
  • Have a GPA of 3.8 or above.
  • Have a GPA that is the top 25% of students from your high school who also have been admitted to CSU.
  • Demonstrate satisfactory completion of a sequences of courses that meet Colorado Higher Education Admissions Recommendations.
  • Be a resident of Colorado.
  • Be admitted to a full-time, degree-seeking program on CSU’s main campus. CSU Online students are not eligible.
