The Colorado Department of Higher Education has teamed up with colleges and universities across Colorado to waive college application fees for Colorado students. That means if you submit your application any time October 18-20, you can apply for free!

Colorado Free Application Day was created to encourage Colorado’s best and brightest students to further their education in the state of Colorado. As a land-grant institution, CSU is committed to removing barriers to higher education, and this is a great opportunity to do just that.

How do I know if I qualify?

All Colorado residents — first-year freshmen applicants, transfer applicants, second bachelor’s applicants, and undocumented applicants — qualify for Colorado Free Application Days.

The free application is only available during Colorado Free Application Days, so you must submit your application then to receive the waiver.

How does it work?

To take advantage of this opportunity, we recommend having your application materials prepared before Colorado Free Application Days. As long as you submit your online application and your personal statement (if required) on Colorado Free Application Days, other documents can be submitted anytime afterward.

For freshman/first-year applicants:

• Within the CSU Questions section on the Common Application, you’ll see this question: “Are you eligible for a CSU application fee waiver through one of the following affiliations?”
• Choose “Colorado Free Application Day” in the dropdown.

No additional codes or actions are required as long as you submit your Common Application and CSU Questions on Colorado Free Application Days.

For transfer and second bachelor’s applicants:

No special steps are necessary in the CSU Application. Your fee will be waived automatically when you submit your application on Colorado Free Application Days.
