For enrollment-related fees, Colorado State University offers waivers and deferrals for those who need them.

Application fee waivers

If the payment of an application fee presents a financial hardship, applicants can request an application fee waiver. How you submit your waiver request depends on the type of applicant you are. Freshman applicants can request a waiver within the application for admission. Transfer applicants can request a waiver after submitting their application for admission.

Application fee refunds

The $50 application fee is not refundable if an applicant is denied, withdraws their application, or changes their mind about attending CSU. The application fee can not be applied to tuition and fees if the student enrolls.

Applicants who inadvertently pay the application fee more than once or who pay and then are approved for an application fee waiver will be refunded accordingly. No refund request is necessary.

Starting August 1, 2023, Colorado students eligible to apply for free will automatically receive a refund if they pay an application fee in error. Refunds typically are processed to the original form of payment within 7-10 business days after submission but may take longer depending upon volume and time of year. Application fees paid prior to August 1 will not be refunded.

Enrollment deposit deferrals and refunds

The $300 enrollment deposit opens access to the housing application and orientation sign-up for newly admitted on-campus freshmen and transfer students. If payment of the enrollment deposit presents a financial hardship, students can request an enrollment deposit deferral.

Admitted students who deposit and then experience a change of plans can submit the term change request form to change their application to a different term up to one year in the future. Students must log in with their NetID to access the term change request form.

Refunds are available upon request until the dates listed below. After these dates, enrollment deposits are non-refundable. If you have changed terms, the dates listed apply to the original application term, not the new application term.

Enrollment deposit refund request deadlines

When you request a refund, you will be prompted to log in with your NetID.
