Completing your application should be straightforward. Be sure to read the tips for completing your application quickly for the best experience.

Electronic submission of documents is strongly encouraged. If you need alternatives, be sure to contact us.

Graduate applicants: refer to submission instructions for the departments to which you applied.

$50 Application Fee or Fee Waiver

  • Your application will not be reviewed for a decision until your application fee has been submitted.
  • Information about our application fee refund policy is here.
  • CSU Application: You’ll be prompted to pay your application fee after you submit your application. Look for the payment tool on the confirmation page you see after you submit. Fees are payable by Visa or MasterCard.
  • Common Application (freshman applicants only): You’ll be prompted to pay your application fee at the same time you submit your application.
  • Fee waivers are available when payment would present a financial hardship. Within the CSU Application payment tool, there’s a link to the Fee Waiver Request form (requires login). Within the Common App, the fee waiver request is built into the application (look for the section on the “Profile” page).

High School Transcript

In your application, you may be prompted to list the name and email address of the High School Official who can release your official transcript to CSU (typically the Registrar or College Counselor). We’ll send an email to the person you’ve listed, outlining the options for your official transcript to be sent to CSU:

  • Upload a transcript directly to your application record using a secure link included in the email we send.
  • Upload a transcript via Naviance (be sure you identify in Naviance whether you applied via Common App or CSU Application). Other secure site submission options are welcome.
  • Email your transcript as a PDF or Word document to etranscripts@colostate.edu
  • Mail your transcript to Colorado State University, Office of Admissions, 1062 Campus Delivery, Fort Collins CO  80523-1062.

If you already have graduated from high school, you may have to contact your district office rather than your high school to obtain an official copy of your transcript.

Some high schools will not release transcripts to us until you have paid and/or signed a release. Make sure you check with your high school well in advance of the application date.

College Transcript(s)

Electronic submission of college transcripts is supported and preferred whenever possible. Most commonly, we receive paperless college transcripts via Parchment/Docufide, eScript-Safe, ConnectEDU and the National/Colorado Transcript Centers, and we are willing to access electronic transcripts through any other secure sites hosted by the sending institution.

College officials are welcome to send links to secure site delivery to etranscripts@colostate.edu.

If necessary or preferred, official college transcripts can be mailed to Office of Admissions Colorado State University, 1062 Campus Delivery, Fort Collins CO 80523-1062.

Official Test Results (e.g., ACT, SAT, AP, IB, CLEP, GED, TOEFL, IELTS, PTE)

You can submit test scores to us through the testing agency (allow 2-3 weeks for score reports to arrive at CSU):

We also will accept unofficial results of the ACT, SAT, TOEFL, IELTS and/or PTE from a student score report or high school transcript as long as all subscores, test dates and applicant name are included on one record. Log in to RAMweb to upload scores on your applicant status page, or email your score report for consideration.

GED, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and CLEP must be official score reports.

Not all tests are required for all applicant types. Be sure to reference the Application Guide for your instructions.

Personal Statement and Recommendation(s) (Freshman/First-Year Applicants only)

Personal Statement

You’ll be prompted to type or copy/paste your personal statement into your application before you can submit.

The writing prompts and instructions are the same whether you’re using the Common App or the CSU Application.

Recommendation(s)

All freshman applicants must submit at least one recommendation, preferably from a teacher OR counselor familiar with your academic strengths and background. We’ve compiled this short list of other recommendation dos and don’ts.

CSU Application

Within the CSU Application, you’ll be prompted to list the name(s) and email address(es) of your recommender(s). Your recommender(s) will receive a courtesy invitation and a secure link to upload a letter or comments directly to your application.

Common Application

In order to give you maximum flexibility, we do not require that you list a teacher within your Common Application. However, if you choose to list a teacher, the Common App will send them an email with instructions and a link to a secure site to access the Teacher Evaluation form.

We accept EITHER the Common App Counselor Recommendation OR the Common App Teacher Evaluation to complete your application for admission.

Regardless of the application you use, we prefer that your recommendation be submitted electronically through the secure link provided. If necessary, recommendations can be submitted electronically as PDF or Word attachments emailed to admissions@colostate.edu.

If electronic submission is not possible, recommendations can be mailed to Office of Admissions, Colorado State University, 1062 Campus Delivery, Fort Collins CO 80523-1062.

Immigration Documents (International Applicants needing student visa only)

Although immigration documents are not required for an admission decision to be rendered, international applicants are strongly encouraged to include immigration information within the application packet to streamline the admission process.

Complete immigration information includes the following:

  • Immigration Information Form. This document must be completed outside of the application for admission. We’ll email you a link to the form, or you can access it online through your application status checklist starting approximately three days after you submit your application (eID login to RAMweb required). Forms must be submitted online and are securely connected directly to your application record.
  • One copy of the identification page of your passport (and the identification page for any dependents traveling with you)
  • Evidence of financial support sufficient to meet or exceed your estimated expenses.

Passport and financial support documents can be uploaded directly to your application using the tool on your RAMweb application status page or emailed to admissions@colostate.edu as PDF or MSWord attachments.

If necessary, immigration documents can be expressed to Office of Admissions, Colorado State University, 1062 Campus Delivery, Fort Collins CO 80523-1062; you’re encouraged to use caution given the sensitive nature of the identifying information.

Additional Support Documents

Documents beyond those listed here may be listed as required once we begin processing and reviewing your application. Be sure to check your application status regularly for updates.

Except for official academic records, most additional documents can be uploaded within your online applicant status page or emailed as PDF or Word documents to admissions@colostate.edu. Make sure each document includes your full name and date of birth or other identifying information (not SSN).

If necessary or preferred, additional support documents can be submitted by mail to Office of Admissions, Colorado State University, 1062 Campus Delivery, Fort Collins CO  80523-1062.
